US Youth Soccer Region I - CPSC U12 Game 3
The CPSC U12 Cobras traveled to Barboursville, West Virginia to compete in the US Youth Soccer Region I Championship July 1 - 5. Sunday July 3 the third game of the three game group round was played at the YMCA complex on Ohio Road on the Ohio River.
The Cobras' third opponent were the Continental FC Dortmund 03/04 from eastern Pennsylvania ... the 9th ranked U12 team in the nation!
FC Dortmund came out firing and had multiple scoring opportunities early, but were stopped by the Cobras' keeper. About 10 minutes into the game, the Cobras committed a penalty in the box resulting in a penalty kick that was hard and fast up the middle and STOPPED by the Cobras' keeper. At that point, the Cobras found their confidence and kept the game close with a 0-0 score at half time. Approximately 10 minutes into the second half, the Cobras found themselves with a break away and beat the Dortmund's keeper to take a 1-0 lead on their first goal in the tournament. The Cobras were able to keep Dortmund from finding the back of the net. The final score was 1-0 CPSC Cobras for their first win of the tournament! Great job by all on both sides. A very competitive and entertaining game.
For the tournament, I was shooting the Canon 7D Mark II and the Canon EF 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens for most of the on field action shots. Off the field, I was shooting the Canon EF 24-70MM F/2.8L USM Mark II, which I rented from LensRentals.com for this trip. What an amazing lens ... this is one that I may have to add to my camera bag soon.
Thanks for stopping by today!
