Dark-Eyed Junco in the Snow I

Dark-Eyed Junco in the snow converted to black and white (click to enlarge)

Winter is coming and I have topped off the bird feeders in the yard in preparation for the cold weather. I have several feeders in the yard, but my favorite is the feeder just outside my kitchen window. There is a Butterfly Bush just beside it that allows the smaller birds to perch and hide within it and I can photograph the birds before or after they have visited the feeder for a more natural setting.

Last season I was fortunate to photograph several birds in the snow on and about the feeders and I'm hoping to be able to do the same again this season because they make for more interesting photos.

Above is a Dark-Eyed Junco from last Winter in the snow that has been processed with Tonality CK and Photoshop. It was shot with the Canon 7D Mark II and the Canon EF 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens handheld.

Thanks for stopping by today!
