A nuthatch walks down a tree stump in my back yard. This guy was quite bold and was landing within three feet of where I was standing...too close to focus with the EF 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6L lens.

A black-capped chickadee visits in August. For mid-summer, the background is starting to look an awful lot like Fall.

Black-Capped Chickadee feeding
Mid-afternoon. Harsh light. High contrast. Chickadees practically landing on my head causing me to actually have to back up to keep the birds outside the minimal focal length. This made for some fun shooting, but more time in post.
Above is just one of those chickadees eyeing me as I point the Canon 7D Mark II and the Canon EF 100-400MM F/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens at it.

Just another coneflower
The sunlight was filtering through an ornamental crab apple tree above the coneflower exposing both the flower and the green plant in the background. Photographed with the Canon 7D Mark II and the Canon EF 135MM F/2.0L lens and post processed in Adobe Lightroom.

A black and white conversion of a red lily in daylight
Photographed with the Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon EF 135MM F/2.0L lens during a bright sunny afternoon provided an opportunity to expose the flower on a dark background with spot metering. Using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II, I was further able to push the background into black and isolate the flower.
