August was a busy month and I had not had much time to get out with the cameras. This past Labor Day weekend I spent some time outdoors around the house taking photos.

A black and white conversion of a red lily in daylight
Photographed with the Canon 7D Mark II and a Canon EF 135MM F/2.0L lens during a bright sunny afternoon provided an opportunity to expose the flower on a dark background with spot metering. Using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II, I was further able to push the background into black and isolate the flower.
The color photo is shown below.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Geranium isolated in Black & White
A geranium in our flower garden photographed with the Canon EF 135MM F/2.0L lens and converted to black and white using Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II.
The black and white conversion allows the background to be rendered in black isolating the petals allowing the focus to fall on the details of the petals, rather than the lovely bark mulch just below the flower.
Have a great day!
Coneflower's are one of my favorite subjects
An immature coneflower is bent over in our flower garden. Photographed with the Canon 135MM F/2.0L lens, the background is nicely blurred out. The black and white conversion is done in Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II. A color version is shown below.
I enjoy the detail and color of these flowers. This particular flower captured my attention because it presented the underside of the flower as opposed to the intricate flower. As with the flower, the amount of detail on the underside is staggering with the numerous hairs.
Have a great day!
