Recently I traveled to Quebec for work. I decided to drive since the trip was only going to be three and a half hours in the car and this would be much quicker than flying. Having snowed the night before, the roads were clear, but the ground and surrounding hills were snow-covered. Driving north on the NY Northway in the early morning, rain was intermittent and the sky was overcast. As I reached the northern Adirondacks, the rain subsided and the clouds became interesting just as I was passing through the ice-covered rock-exposed hills. Having brought the Fuji X100s with me, I was able to capture some images as I traveled North. All images shown here were shot handheld in manual mode with auto ISO and autofocus.

I visited Grapevine, Texas January 9-13 for the annual American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) SciTech conference at the Gaylord Texan. If you are an aerospace or related STEM student or professional, I highly recommend attending SciTech to hear from decision makers, attend technical talks, and network with your colleagues from academia, government, and industry. If you want to get involved, join the AIAA and volunteer to serve in your local chapter or on a technical committee.

Sorting through my 2016 Lightroom catalog and reviewing my photo statistics this past week I calculated that I took approximately 8200 photos of which approximately 7000 were with the Canon 7D Mark II, 1200 were with the Fuji X100s, and a few were taken with the iPhone 7 Plus. If I had to guess, I would have thought that 1) I had taken many more photos this year overall and 2) specifically many more with the Fuji X100s. I was not surprised that I took nearly 7000 images with the Canon given the number of soccer games I photographed this year.

Merry Christmas! I always enjoy taking photos of the Christmas decorations, tree, and miscellaneous sights in and around the house. It is always a challenge to find a new perspective, or lighting, or scene since each year is mostly the same decorations as the previous year. This past week, I have used all three of my cameras, the Canon 7D Mark II, the Fuji X100s, and the iPhone 7 Plus to photograph the images collected here.

How quickly October has come and gone.
What started out as a subdued and muted foliage season exploded into a vibrant Fall. Due to a week of cold and wet weather in the third week, the colors quickly reached peak in the New York Capital District mid-week and by the weekend the scenery was looking well-past peak. When Sunday turned into a sunny and cool afternoon, I grabbed the Fuji X100S and headed out for a drive to find the last remnants of color.
