Coneflower's are one of my favorite subjects

An immature coneflower is bent over in our flower garden. Photographed with the Canon 135MM F/2.0L lens, the background is nicely blurred out. The black and white conversion is done in Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II. A color version is shown below.

I enjoy the detail and color of these flowers. This particular flower captured my attention because it presented the underside of the flower as opposed to the intricate flower. As with the flower, the amount of detail on the underside is staggering with the numerous hairs.

Have a great day!

The dry waterfall ledge at Pilot Knob

Stream Bed - Black & White

The seasonal waterfall above the Pilot Knob lookout is virtually dry in late July. This is an image of the ledge at what would be the main fall, which is now dry and exposed.

Photographed with the Fuji X100s, this is an image created from three exposures, HDR merged in Lightroom CC, and converted to black and white in Silver Efex Pro II.

Have a great day!

Creek

A Trickle - HDR

We hiked from the Pilot Knob gazebo back to the waterfall (seasonal). The creek was mostly dried up and there was no waterfall, but captured some images in the creek bed above the fall.

This image is a HDR composite of three exposures taken with the Fuji X100s and merged in Lightroom CC.

Playing in the Rain

Playing in the Rain

We attended the Essex Vermont soccer tournament in June. I rented the Canon 70-200 F/2.8L IS USM II lens from LensRentals.com for the tournament weekend.

Saturday was a gorgeous summer day without a cloud to be found in the sky; unfortunately this weather did not make for very good photos.

On Sunday morning however, it was quite a different situation. We awoke to tropical down pours and when we arrived at the fields we found they were quite flooded in locations. Thankfully the rain slowed as the game started and I was able to rig my umbrella within my backpack straps such that I could shoot unimpeded.

The rain and standing water made for some fantastic action photos and the kids had a blast!
