For Father’s Day Weekend, we spent a couple days in Burlington Vermont for a soccer tournament. We stayed downtown at the Marriott Courtyard, which was convenient for getting out-and-about to take some photos when we were not at the soccer field. I managed to walk just short of 10 miles while out taking pics; visiting Church Street, the lake shore, and the University of Vermont during the weekend.

There are a number of Eastern Cottontails that have taken up residence on our property. The rabbits mostly are harmless with the exception of the early-summer vegetable garden, which we have fenced off this Spring. The bunnies also attract the hawks and owls periodically, who do a decent job of keeping the bunny population in control.

A recurring visitor to our bird feeders are the Northern Gray Squirrels who frequently gorge themselves on bird feed. Not shy about hopping right up and helping themselves, they typically play nicely with most of the birds, while the Blue Jays will assert themselves and drive the squirrels away.

The first snow storm of 2019 rolled through the Capital District in New York during the Martin Luther King long holiday weekend and left behind approximately 15 inches of snow and bitter cold. On Sunday morning, I spent a couple hours with the Canon 7D Mark II and the EF 100-400MM F4.5-5.6L lens photographing the birds as they visited the recently stocked bird feeder.

As the second week of 2019 began I had the good fortune to attend the AIAA SciTech conference in San Diego, California. A fantastic week of speakers, panel talks, technical sessions, and meeting and greeting new associates. I always enjoy this week because in addition to meeting new people and learning, it is a chance to catch up with old friends and associates and it is a great time to think about the year ahead and all that I want to accomplish. New this year (for me and the team) was our own booth in the Exhibit Hall (see my LinkedIn article for more details and a great photo of colleagues here and here ).
